One of the UK's leading travel journalists, Frances writes, photographs, blogs, broadcasts, lectures and consults on travel.

Frances has written for all the UK’s leading travel publishers, photographs for Getty Images, and consults regularly for BBC documentaries, the UK government including the FCO, and international organisations including Citigroup and Nokia. She has travelled in almost 100 countries but specialises particularly in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Frances believes passionately in the benefits of travel both for the individual and for the country, and sees her gender as a help not a hindrance when negotiating the hurdles of the road.

“I worked closely with Frances during my time as Senior (Commissioning) Editor at Lonely Planet and without a doubt she is the best author I know. She is resourceful, creative and intelligent and embraces every aspect of every project with a staggering amount of energy and enthusiasm. Passionate, focused and approachable, she sets very high standards – and always meets these… I cannot recommend her highly enough.”

Sam Carew, Senior Commissioning Editor, Lonely Planet
